Well, we wouldn’t quite call it a factory, but our new soap manufacturing workshop is well underway. For all of you that were not aware, we will now be making our bath and body products right on site. 342 Adams Avenue is the new home to all of the butters we (my mother) is currently unpacking. As I write, I can hear her yelling out “Babassu, orange, horsetail…” This is just an update to let you all know that by next week, all of our products will be replenished. Also, I’m thinking about new essential oil blends for lotions, and I’ve got a few body butter/scrub concotions floating around in my brain. Can’t wait to see what comes next. Thank you all for the support you’ve shown us in our new amazing location!
Your Scrubstress (Amanda)
The Fanciful Fox, the Hill Section boutique that caters to the conscious consumer, will be moving its location this spring. The mother-daughter team of Kathie and Amanda Fox will be moving to a new, larger location to accommodate their ever-growing inventory. At their current location at 1425 Ash Street, they sell handmade organic bar and liquid soaps, lotions, scrubs, and all sorts of skin care. There is also a scrub bar where customers can have body scrubs made to order while they wait. In addition to bath and body products, The Fanciful Fox also sells handmade items that are friendly to the planet and the artisans that make them. They have items such as jewelry made from recycled paper, purses and bags made from old plastic and car seat belts, and hand woven scarves.
Their new digs will be at 342 Adams Avenue in downtown Scranton. Along with the new larger space, the inventory will expand as well to include more fair trade items such as shoes, a wider selection of clothing for women and children, house wares, coffees, teas, and vegan chocolates. They are expecting some items that are made by people in Haiti, and jewelry from Tibet. Not only has the fair trade stock exploded, but the bath and body merchandise has as well. At the new storefront on Adams Ave, there will be an array of new soaps, body butters, fair trade sugar scrubs, and a wider variety of candles. There will also be enough room for an in house workshop. Made to order bath and body products will be easier than ever, especially the scrub bar!
The Fanciful Fox is a vegan boutique that cares about the planet and all the living creatures on it. In 2009, they were awarded a Compassionate Business Award by PETA. They are licensed by PETA as a cruelty free company, and they were recently invited to join the Fair Trade Federation.
World Fair Trade Day is Saturday, May 8. To celebrate that occasion and their “Grand Re-opening” downtown, The Fanciful Fox will be hosting a fair trade event from 10:00 am until 8:00pm. There will be free fair trade coffee samples, soap samples, and a chance to win a $50 Fanciful Fox gift certificate. There will also be live music and a contest to design their next soap.
